RSH 0-6-0t No.7684 “Nechells No.4”
This weekend 30/31st July will see RSH 0-6-0t Nechells No.4 in steam on our service trains
One in/ One out
Darfield at Bolton Abbey on the Embsay Railway
We are pleased to announce a new arrival at Chasewater Railway which will see Hunslet 0-6-0st No.3783 of 1953 “Darfield No.1” coming for an extended stay on loan by kind agreement of it’s owner and will be delivered by road from it’s regular base at the Llangollen Railway very shortly. This locomotive is now planned to be included in the upcoming September Gala line up and will then see regular service alongside the home fleet. Unfortunately though it is goodbye to long term resident Andrew Barclay 0-4-0st Wks.No.1964 which has been sold by it’s owner. The big Barclay under the care of it’s new owner will be moving to a new home when it’s annual boiler exam has been undertaken at Chasewater.
The ‘big’ Barclay – 1964/1929, also known at Chasewater as ‘701’ – goodbye and thank you!
Due to extra repairs being necessary to the boiler and firebox of RSH 7684 after undergoing its boiler inspection, Nechells No.4 will not be available in steam during the gala. RSH7684 will be on static display at Brownhills West for viewing and photographs in its return to its No.4 identity. We intend to complete the repairs as soon as possible and will make an announcement shortly before its return to traffic.
Hawthorne Leslie 2780 Asbestos in what may be its final year in traffic for a while will be replacing RSH7684 programmed turns in the timetable. It is planned that Diesel’s Hunslet 6678 will be the shunt release loco at Chasewater Heaths station and Baguley Bass No.5 will be at Brownhills West yard. Don’t forget AB1223 Colin McAndrew is also celebrating its centenary year during 2011.
Everyone at Chasewater Railway is naturally disappointed that RSH6784 will not be in steam and we send our apologies for any disappointment or inconvenience caused, however we still aim to be providing a busy and entertaining gala and look forward to welcoming you to Chasewater Railway’s Spring Gala.
