Redwood Lumber – US Pacific Coast On30 logging operation featuring DCC and sound. A gem in less than 10 feet of space!
North of Leeds – EM – An essay on the Settle-Carlisle in steam/green diesel days. Help needed to complete a potential masterpiece in time for next year’s exhibition!
00 Finescale – A Pennine theme with canal and lock. Our once-juniors are embarking on this exciting project, and would welcome teenagers interested in helping to construct this exhibition quality layout.
2mm Finescale – Members of the 2mm Finescale Soc have moved a partially-built layout into the club to finish off. If you are also a fugitive watchmaker, they’d love to hear from you.
Introduction to the Club
Founded in 1974, Keighley MRC now has over 100 members of all ages, both local and as far away as Canada! Over the years, the Club has produced layouts in a variety of scales which have been exhibited in both the UK and Europe, and currently offers an opportunity to get involved with railway modelling in any scale.
Our clubrooms, situated at the Keighley Business Centre in Knowle Mill are just outside the centre of the town, and offer over 8,000 sq feet of heated space with both goods and passenger lift access. This allows many layouts to be permanently erected for running, as well as providing space for new ones under construction. We have a multi-gauge test track which is always available for test running, with both DCC and analogue controls. There are also modelling tables for members to work on their kits or individual projects.
Club night is every Tuesday 7.00 – 10.00pm, but individual layout groups also meet on Mondays and Thursdays, and there is also a Junior Section which meets on most Saturday afternoons 1.00-5.00pm (see Saturday Club page for upcoming dates). We also host meetings for 2mm and 3mm Finescale groups on certain Saturdays – again, upcoming dates are listed on the Saturday Club page.
The Club enjoys an enviable reputation in the railway modelling circuit for its open days and the quality of its annual exhibition, held each March in Victoria Hall, Keighley. If you’re wanting to develop your railway modelling skills, you can do no better to pay us a visit and talk to some of our experienced members. But even if you’re only an armchair modeller, we have a social area with video tapes and TV, kitchen and internet enabled PC, and substantial library for research.
Adult Club Membership costs £1.35 per week (£70 per year) whilst Junior membership (16 and under) costs just £1 per week (£52 per year). In any event, your first few visits to the Club will be completely free from any commitment on your part. Try before you buy!
If you’re interested in model railways, pay us a visit. You can be sure of a warm welcome at Keighley MRC!
