Alrewas Canal & Music Festival

Celebrating our waterway with good music and local beer.

July 22nd – 24th 2011

  Programme of Events

The Canal Festival is being held to support the Alrewas Village Hall’s Centenary fund raising efforts. Being a village blessed with a wide range of musical talent so many groups have offered to play that we will be able to have musical entertainment each lunchtime as well as evenings.

The organisers are most grateful to Essington Park Ltd for making the Festival site available to stage the weekend of events .

Thursday, 21 July 2011 (Provisional)

  • 7:30 pm – Village meets Early Bird Boaters evening – music by The Ample Band bring your musical instrument if you fancy joining in.

Friday, 22nd July 2011 – Evening

Tom Kitching and Gren Bartley are one of the brightest young acts on the folk scene today. Playing music from a remarkably broad range of sources, their new album ‘Boundary’ crosses genres with a healthy disdain for arbitrary pigeon-holing of styles and traditions. Some songs just need to be sung. ‘The instruments spark, with the combination of the bright fiddle and the acclaimed finger picking style of Bartley giving a lovely flow to the tunes’ – Maverick Magazine
