A bit more for this weekend – Rail on the Air

I draw to your attention that the West Bromwich Central Radio Club will on Saturday & Sunday, 25th & 26th September 2010, be establishing a radio station at Brownhills West between the hours of 9am – 4pm (subject to favourable weather), on the grassed area between platforms 2 & 3, as part of a “Railways on the Air” [ROTA] event covering approx 22 heritage railways throughout the country.

Welcome

Railways on the air (ROTA) weekend takes place every year on the weekend closest to the 27th September. This date celebrates the anniversary of the first steam powered passenger railway which took place on 27th September 1825 – the first passenger train ran on a line in the North East of England from Darlington to Stockton. Bishop Auckland Amateur Radio Club coordinates this event.

This year, the event will take place on the weekend of the 25th – 26th of September.

The following are suggested frequencies for this year’s event: 3.65, 7.12, 14.12.
