A bit more May in the Museum

A Bit More May in the Museum

Following my last post, I’ve just been reading the local ‘freebie’ – The Cannock Chronicle, and it seems that the Vintage and Classis Transport Show is looking for a new, bigger venue.  Congratulations to Helen Tindill and her team on the great success over the past two years but it’s such a shame for Chasewater, but if you can’t get ‘em all in there’s no real alternative.  As I said in the last post, the Museum had a good number of visitors that Sunday and we shall surely miss the Transport Show, as will the Park.

While on the subject of the local paper, there were two advertisements for Railway attractions this Bank Holiday Weekend – Foxfield and Welshpool – but nothing from Chasewater Railway. I have said before that local people comment that they didn’t know we were there, although we are hearing the comment less these days –we still hear it!  I don’t know what the passenger numbers were like, but I was down there at about half-past one (Saturday)and only 19 people had been in the Museum!  I know that Saturday is usually the quietest day of the Bank Holiday, but I went from the Railway to the Museum of Cannock Chase and there were a fair few buzzing around in Hednesford.

The website’s no great help either – publishing the wrong timetable for Saturday!  To be honest, there’s no real acknowledgement that this weekend is a Bank Holiday, when comparing it with other websites.
